Rahm-Emanuel-WinMy friend Tracy Sefl makes a compelling argument in the Wall Street Journal that Rahm Emmanuel’s victory in the Chicago mayoral run-off says little about the prospects of the “progressive” forces within the Democratic Party. I argue, however, that it raises this important question: In our new, globalized economy, can the progressive movement present a sophisticated diagnosis of the forces driving economic inequality and then propose believable solutions? So far, I think the answer is “no”.
